Modem use and Playing Protracker mods

What the problem is, is the following.

When dl or ul files to any bbs site or ftp site, if I attempt to
play a module with Chameleon Player, EaglePlayer or Protracker3.10
then I get the following message in the Tranfer window of Term3.3'030:

`Serial IO Error number 6 - hardware data overrun'

Can anyone suggest why this maybe happening as it is nice to listen to
modules while ul or dl data....

Um, if a sample is played then there is no problem with transfers only
when a module is being attempted..

I have an a4000'040 and 10 meg ram if that helps to clear up any problems
related to hardware related answers.....

Thank you,

Terry Wood

Hello all,  If you have a SCSI II card,  and a minute of free time
would you mind sending me a note if you like/dislike your card?

The only card I know of is the A4091.  Does this card have any RAM slots?
When will a new buster come out that supports 10mb/sec?

And last of all,  what's a decent SCSI II drive ( > 4mb/sec)

Thanx, as allways,  alexb.

I used to get that every time I tried to download, even without any
multitasking (I don't have enough memory to load WB, let alone multitask!)  I
couldn't fix the problem and everyone else that used Term that I knew also has
that problem.

So, the solution for me was to get Terminus!  #8^)

I've used term 3.2 before with PT mods playing through EdPlayer or
something similar. No problems. Then again the guy who's computer it was
read the manual and set it up right.

It's fixed in Term 3.4, you may still get the error but the transfer will
continue.

I have used Term 3.2, 3.3 and now 3.4,  NComm, JrComm, Terminus and players
Chameleon, Edplayer, Eagleplayer, DeliTracker, Protracker 3.11B, and other
non-significant combinations and I get the same problem each time so I dont
think that it is a `manual' problem.  My A4000 has been back 3 times for
repair and replacements and I am getting REAL sick of this.  The last time
was for the Soundchip (4get what it is in the A4000) from dying on me and
making my A4000 sound like a PC+Soundblaster with runny nose.

What I am /trying/ to find out is if it is a hardware (most likely) or
a software (look above) problem.  I thank the few people that are trying to
help me also.

Yours,

Terry Wood

* It can easily be proven that Rowan Crawford said, to All :

I'll bet you if you run another terminal, this same activity will work fine.
This seems to be one of term's remaining problems:  it aborts transfers for
no
reason.  I get this behavior on my 3000 sometimes just by moving windows
around  (And I have ZERO display-DMA).
