A4091 or DKB4091 in A3000?

Post by Philippe Bra » Sat, 10 Dec 1994 05:30:00

I have an A3000 and I need to add a second SCSI controller, a SCSI-2
one, as my A3000 can't recognize my Fujitsu M2694ESA 1.2Go. So is the
A4091 working on a A3000 ?

Thanks.

It should, as far as I know. Be sure to get the rev. 11 Buster, though. It
came with my CBM 4091.

I'm pretty sure that you also need WB3.1 to use it an A3000.  It has worked
on my A3000 with a SuperBuster rev11 and WB3.1, but unfortunately I can't
get it to work with my GVP G-Force 3000 '040 accelerator.  I haven't had the
time to track down which card is at fault, or if it something else in my
3000 which won't allow the DKB4091 and GVP accelerator to work together.

Sure is John.  DKB acquired the rights to produce and market the A4091
SCSI-II Fast DMA Controller from Commodore early this year.  The machine
I am posting this message from has one.  Pretty good controller, although
currently I'm using it nowhere near its full potential.  Sure beats the
hell out of IDE though...

Note that it requires a Revision K (-11) SuperBuster as well as a revision
3.1 A3640 (the A4000/040 processor card) in an A4000 to function.  The card
itself is actually quite cleanly laid out which contrasts with some early
photos I saw where the board looked like a bird's nest.  Worth considering
if you're after a good SCSI-II controller for Zorro III.

Regards,
Derek.
