How can I install boot block on my hd. ?

Hello,

I've got an A590 + and I've lost my hard disk bootblock last nigth !
The boot block has been infected by the virus.
I booted the system from DF0: but the virus didn't permit
to use any virus killer program.
As my last chance, I destroyed boot block of hard disk to
kill the virus then I made a hard reset my system.
Now I don't have backup of the original boot block.

My questions are;

1) Is hd's boot code same of floppy boot code ?
Can I copy boot code from any floppy to hd. ?

2) If not, how can I install new boot block on my hard disk ?
Is there any PD utility ? (I can't find any info about
boot block in my A590 user manual.)

I have never seen or even heard of such a virus. I am pretty sure (*almost*
positive) that the a hard drive doesn't really have a 'boot block' as such.
My understanding of it was that the ROMS in your system/card autobooted the
drive. Your mountlist contained the required info. The only thing on the Drive
itslef (or so I thought) is a directory... and some form of a BAM (aside from
the actual programs themselves). I thought the worst a virus would do is
wipe the works out. You say you 'wiped' the boot block out? How? I assume you
mean you used 'Prep'? If so... It's pretty much a write-off now then... There
may be some software that can recover the data on the drive, but restoring it
to the exact same will be impossible (not the data, the structure of the
setup before the 'wipe'). I could be wrong mind you, but this is my
understanding of things. (Hope I am wrong, amybe then I can benefit some day
too).

1. Boot Block Code Questions - A-max boot block.

Hi all!

I have no experiance in assembler (especialy not amiga assembler),
but I think I have an idea that would save alot of trouble for A-1000 owners.

As you all know A-max uses a boot block in order to make advantage
of the kick-start memory in amiga 1000, why can't it be done also by
the people who wrote (and update) Zkick (kickstart 2).

I think that all amiga 1000 owners will be more than happy to know
they can switch to kickstart 2 without loosing 256k of the older kickstart.

        Anyway that's just a thought.
