Does anyone know of a program to convert a postscript file to ascii?

The ghostscript package comes with a ps2ascii shell script. Ghostscript is
on Aminet in text/print.

  Don't expect miracles, though.

No need to be a smartass.  Chris obviously wants to convert a PS file
which, when printed, has only text into an ASCII file which contains
only the relevant text.

I did the opposite; I took an ASCII file and created a PS file using
enscript (unix).  Looking at the output of enscript showed that all
the text was embedded into lines like

900 14240(CAREFULLY READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT)B

The command B is defined in the header (PS is a post-fix operator
language with a stack).  Another PS-producing program will surely
define its text creating commands differently.  You will have to look
at the PS file in question, remove extraneous header and trailer PS
commands, find the text you wish to extract, see what it is surrounded
by, and write a script (perl would be good) to extract the rest.

Hope this helps...

Unfortunately, many programs that produce PS output actually go character
by character (so they can control the kerning), so you'd see something like
900 14240 (C) B  910 14240 (A) B  920 14240 (R) B

Pagestream does this, for example.  So it can be a decidedly non-trivial
task to convert to plain text.
