Dave Haynie please read: 4 16-bit slots on an a2000?

I was informed that it may be possible to alter the two remaining 8-bit slots on my Amiga 2000 motherboard into 16-bit ISA slots, that the remaining pin ports are active... thus i could use two additional peripherals on a bridgeboard.... is this true?

It certainly is true. I did it to mine. Just solder in the extra connectors.

This is true.  I have done this mod for several of my customers...  The
hardest part is finding the 16 bit ISA extensions...  I have to end up buying
a full 16 bit ISA edge slot and HACKING off the 8 old 8 bit side and then
installing them...

Works like a champ though...

If you need mail order Amy Tech work... email me..

You should limit the line length to max 72 chars, Usenet standard.

Yes, just add those missing connectors, nothing more needed.
And also in the current state you can use those slots, of course
only with 8-bit cards, but they work too.

>> I was informed that it may be possible to alter the two remaining 8-bit

slots on my Amiga 2000 motherboard into 16-bit ISA slots, that the

Old 286 motherboards are throwaway items these days and they have the
extensions you need.

Just heat up the solder side of the motherboard with a small hand held torch
and lift them off.  Don't forget to do this OUTSIDE with a respirator on!!

Good Luck

Just wondering..where have you bought them from? I've notice some people
have said you get them off old 286 motherboards, but I haven't access to
any.

Adding an extra slot to ISA architecture is trivial , since
all the slots are paralelly connected.
U just have to attach another connector to the bus and there U go !

Party on !
