16-bit audio "expansion/add-on" slot/pins inside A4000?!

Post by Dr.Lo » Wed, 02 Dec 1992 06:36:09

Hey... I was reading in a magazine called "CU Amiga" or something like that
that there was a "wierd" slot/pin-out somewhere in the A4000 that looked like
it was something for adding something that would "mix-in" with the
8-bit audio output before the 2 RCA jacks on the back.... and they said
that it's possible that this is where C='s 16-bit DSP Audio "expansion
add-on" will go onto...

Can ANYONE with an A4000 out there confirm this??? Anything about this
in the manuals??

Thanks.

I seem to recall, reading my A4000 manual, in the section discussing the
Modular CPU board, a mention of an upcoming CPU board with a DSP mounted
on it.  I'll have to go back and find the quote... I could be mistaken.

Hey Ross, great manuls!  I noticed your name in the Workbench 3.0, Amiga
Hard Drive, and A4000 User's Guides.  These manuals are by far the best
looking and most useful ones that I've ever seen from Commodore.  Sure
beats the hell out of the old mega-binder *that you guys used for
previous releases.

Who designed the new Amiga logo?  I still prefer the original checkmark,
but the new manuals and disks look much more professional than the ones
in the 2.04 release.  That old rainbow logo was way too cheezy, it looked
like something from a kid's cereal box.  :-)

Anyway, I'm very impressed with the latest manuals and hope that y'all
keep up the good work.

Good thing I'm not responsible for writing them, eh?  :-)

1. A1200 manifest incorrect (WAS Re: 16-bit audio "expansion/add-on")

They are good, although I'm curious as to why they used the ECS for screenshots.

Also, the Irish A1200, despite claims to the contrary in the manifest,
doesn't contain the Hard Drive Guide, the AmigaDOS Guide, the ARexx Guide,
the 23-15 video adaptor, and a few small things here and there. And in Ireland
there's no on-site maintainance. But what can you expect when ads for Atari
machines are placed *inside* the A1200 packing box by the distributor?
