Subject: CFP, CEC2003 GP Workshop (ASPGP03)

First Asia-Pacific Workshop on Genetic Programming (ASPGP03)

An opportunity to take a Summer break next Winter, attend one of the
leading international conferences in the field of evolutionary
computation, and join a workshop on Genetic Programming.

        Canberra, Australia     8 December, 2003

        Submission Deadline     29 August, 2003

Genetic Programming (GP), a unique method of Evolutionary Computation,
has been actively studied for over a decade. There has been an increase
in understanding of GP and a surge of novel applications in the last ten
years. The First Asia-Pacific Workshop on Genetic Programming (ASPGP03),
in association with Congress on Evolutionary Computation 2003, aims to
bring together colleagues working in the field of genetic programming,
and closely related approaches.  A principal aim of the Workshop is to
establish a continuing forum for collaboration between researchers in
the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

ASPGP03 invites authors to submit their original and unpublished work
that demonstrates current research in Genetic Programming theory and
applications. ASPGP03 will focus on, but is not limited to, the
following themes:

search spaces:
   programming languages
   tree-based structures
   grammar-based structures
   systems of equations
and similar search spaces of unbounded dimensionality
search methods:
   genetic and evolutionary methods
   swarm-based search
   distributional search
   particle-swarm search
   and similar stochastic search methods
applications

The workshop will run for 4 hours, including 3 hours paper presentations
and 1 hour plenary session. Papers will be published in a workshop
proceedings, but arrangements will be sought with reputable journals for
a special issue based on selected, revised and expanded papers from the
workshop.

applications

A principal aim of the workshop is to establish a continuing forum for
collaboration between workers in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

The workshop will run for 3-4 hours. The proposed structure is 2-3
hours paper presentations plus a 1 hour plenary session. Papers will
