gimp 1.2: font problem

gimp 1.2: font problem

Hello,

I'm using gipm 1.2 with RedHat 7.2 and there is a problem with the font
selector. When I use the text tool, I select:

Font: times
Font Style: medium
Size: 12 points

into the "Font Style" panel of the text tool, I have:

Requested Font name:
-adobe-times-medium-r-normal-*-*-120-*-*-p-*-iso8859-1

Actual Font Name:
-Adobe-Times-Medium-R-Normal--12-120-75-75-P-64-ISO8859-1

But when I applied this font selection, I get the error message:

Font -adobe-times-medium-r-normal-*-*-360-72-72-p-*-iso8859-1 not found

Why does gimp look for

-adobe-times-medium-r-normal-*-*-360-72-72-p-*-iso8859-1 (36 points)

which does not correspond the font selected (12 points)?

I remarked that gimp looks for a font 3 times larger than the one
selected, and this problem occurs also for other adobe fonts (helvetica,
symbol, new-century-schoolbook) it works fine for the other fonts
installed.

Any idea on what happens ?

Thanks

        Gilberto.
