Is it possible?

I've read lots of conflicting stories on the Adobe User Forums.

I'm running OS8.1 now with no problem as far as PM goes. But I'm
hankering for AppleScript improvements for my other apps, and I'd really
like to have Sherlock.

So I'm thinking:

Install OS 8.5 on my hard drive. Immediately apply the OS 8.6 update
from my hard drive as well as the vital Font Manager Update.

With this path, it seems like there wouldn't be an opportunity for plain
8.5 to corrupt my fonts, thereby avoiding the PM headaches.

Am I missing something?

Where am I going, and what am I doing in this handbasket?

We upgraded to 8.5 > 8.6 about 5 months ago and I find 8.6 very stable
and it works with PM just fine.

I Did have problems with Colorsync which, on my system, would not run
with the large number of profiles the system up-date loaded.
De-activating the profiles not needed fixed that.

Also, another part of that font issue with 8.6 is that it has problems
with older Apple fonts. You need to get the font fixer utility
(download from Apple site) and run it against your font files to fix
any of these oldies.

Other than that, it runs good and seems a bit faster than 8.1.

We will be upgrading to OS9 at some point, but not until some of the
glitches are fixed.
