PM6.52 - Can't drag graphics

Post by John Davie » Tue, 13 Jul 1999 04:00:00

I've recently installed PM6.52 Plus Win in place of plain PM6.52.  This
problem was not apparent in plain PM6.52

When I create a new publication, and place a graphic on the page, I find I
can only move it with the cursors keys.  It refuses to be dragged with the
mouse.  I can resize it and crop it OK, but it stays fixed.  The same applies
to imported text blacks.

If I save, close and re-open the publication all is well.

Have I missed something obvious here, or is this an Adobe trick to ensure the
publication is saved immediately?

John, I installed PM plus on a Windows 98 PC as well as on a Mac workstation in
place
of PM6.52 as you have and I don't have this problem, so doubt this an Adobe
trick.

If you open an old publication do you get same results? If not, maybe you
imported
with the text tool selected, thereby putting the import the object in the line of
a text block.

Nope - I'm wise to all that.   I totally uninstalled today - Cleansweep job and all
references to Adobe/PM in the registry zapped.  A re-install produced the same
behaviour.   I can't figure it.  I've got a 64Mb P200 which could be more powerful
but is OK.

1. Type 1 fonts don't show up in PM6.52

I've installed Pagemaker 6.5 again, but Type 1 fonts don't show up
anymore, I've got a map in \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts that
contains fonts and I've got the normal map that contains standard
installed Pagemaker Type 1 fonts.

Still Type 1 fonts don't show up in Pagemaker 6.5.

Do you have an idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance,
