'every' combined with 'with lines'

'every' combined with 'with lines'

Post by Birger J. Natvi » Sat, 07 Aug 1999 04:00:00

Is there a reason why 'every' combined with 'with lines' will not show up as
a line? 'every' combined with 'with points' is OK.

Eg. plot  "CatDyn.plt" every  29::  6:: 521 using 1:4 title "Joint  7" with
lines

'with lines' work OK in any other context

Best regards
Birger

PS
'every' is a most useful command. The user manual could be made clearer on
this item so that more people would use it. A clearer description of what
'data points' are would be one improvement

1. Trouble using keyword 'every'...

The keywords are order-dependent.  For 'plot', the order is

        plot '<file>' binary index every thru using title ...

where (obviously) I have left out the options that follow the keywords.

This is in the manual ("help data" and some other synonyms)...
Perhaps I should try to find a way to stress order dependence more.
