I am trying to install gnuplot on a gateway PC running linux 7.0

the config phase

/config --with-gd=/home/cdw/rpmtar/gd1.4

appears to go without hicup, but the make phase leaves the following
error:

[cdw:119]% make
gcc -g -O2  -o gnuplot alloc.o binary.o bitmap.o command.o contour.o
datafile.o
eval.o fit.o graphics.o graph3d.o help.o hidden3d.o internal.o interpol.o
matrix

show.o spe
cfun.o standard.o stdfn.o term.o time.o util.o util3d.o version.o -lgd
-lpng -lz
  -lm
term.o: In function `GIF_text':
/home/cdw/rpmtar/gnuplot-3.7.1/term/gif.trm:365: undefined reference to
`gdImage

collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [gnuplot] Error 1
Exit 2
[

Any suggestions??

Thanks

newer versions of gd don't write gif images, but instead png
(or even jpeg).  You need to get gd1.3 to write gif.
