I haven't figured out how to do that while gnuplot is running, but

gnuplot plotcommands.txt

will do that from the command line.  (At least, it will in Linux.)

From the gnuplot prompt:
load 'plotcommands.txt'

Running Gnuplot commands from a file.

or as the thrid alternative

inside GnuPlot from the prompt
gnuplot> call 'plotcommands.txt'

with the additional possibility of adding commandline parameters...
If you found the definitions of the plot commands, there should also
be a documentation on other GnuPlot commands around...

thought it fit to write:

gnuplot plotcommands.txt - on any Unix like system. Its more customary to rename
the file as *.save though.

YMMV

1. Error in running the gnuplot command

Hi,

I have installed gnuplot version 3.7.1 into my home directory.  My machine is
running Solaris 2.7.  The installation seems OK, since when I run 'configure',
'make -f Makefile' and 'make install', there is not any errors at all.  But,
when I run the gnuplot command, I got this error message:

ld.so.1: gnuplot: fatal: libpng.so.2: open failed: No such file or directory
Killed

I run the truss command to trace the error, and the details are below:

execve("gnuplot", 0xFFBEF2E4, 0xFFBEF2EC)  argc = 1
open("/dev/zero", O_RDONLY)                     = 3
mmap(0x00000000, 8192, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE|PROT_EXEC, MAP_PRIVATE, 3, 0) =
0xFF3A0000
stat("gnuplot", 0xFFBEEFD8)                     = 0
open("./libpng.so.2", O_RDONLY)                 Err#2 ENOENT
open("/home/harlisya/vint/TCL/TK/OTCL/libpng.so.2", O_RDONLY) Err#2 ENOENT
open("/usr/lib/libpng.so.2", O_RDONLY)          Err#2 ENOENT
ld.so.1: gnuplot: fatal: libpng.so.2: open failed: No such file or directory
write(2, " l d . s o . 1 :   g n u".., 77)      = 77
getpid()                                        = 26453 [26452]
        *** process killed ***

Any suggestions?

Thank you

harlisya
