(A Brief Annual Membership Meeting Will Be Held On The 19th.)
The screening on the 19th will include new works by independent animators and
students. Paul Naas plans to show TAKE YOUR PICK which has been selected for
the 1995 Mellow Manor Sick and Twisted Animation show. Domenic Allen is bringing
THE DART which is computer generated. One or two stop-motion clay works should
be on the program along with several surprises.
Also on the program on the 19th will be a tape presentation of animation from
our sister chapter in Portland, OR. that was shown last summer by ASIFA-New York
The program includes MR. RESISTOR by Mark Gustafson and friends, I THINK I WAS
AN *IC by Kelly Baker, John Callaahan and Laura Di Trapani; ISADORA'S
SNEAKERS by Laura Di Trapani, various animated shorts by John Haugse, ONE IN
SEVEN by Jerold Howard, BLADDER TROUBLE and MAD DOCTORS OF BORNEO by Webster
Colcord, TRUCKIN by Vince Backeberg and Robert Terrell, animation by Wallace
Parks, COOL TOOLS by Barry Bruce, VOYAGER by Vince Backeberg and Robert Terrell,
WILD FIRE by Andy and Amy Collen, THE ACTUAL FACTS by Jim Blashfield, MALLACHT
MACHA (Macha's Curse) by Rose Bond and MONA LISA DESCENDING A STAIRCASE. by
Joan C. Gratz.
On the 26th the program will feature reels of work from Xaos, Pacific Data
Images (PDI), Colossal, and several other local companies. A writer who works
with Larry Royer in the Mid-West hopes to show Royer's reel which includes
SKIPPY THE DOG FOOD TASTER. If time permits reels from Marv Newland's Rocketship
(Vancouver), Paul Vester's Speed (London), Sedelmaier Productions (White Plains,
NY) and George Griffin (New York City) will be shown.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO BRING WORK that hasn't been shown at our past events.
Just show up with it before the show and give it to an ASIFA-SF officer or the
projectionist. The Exploratorium can show work in 16mm, 1/2" & 3/4" tape.
Please limit the length of your presentation. This year you are also welcome to
bring portfolio art that can be displayed on the small stage in the hall.
Our annual business meeting will take place at 7:30 on the 19th. If you wish to
be on the board of ASIFA-SF, run for office, get involved in another way, or
just want to make a suggestion, this is your chance to be heard - or call Karl
Cohen ahead of time (415) 386-1004. Remember, ASIFA is run by volunteers and all
help is welcome.
