I am writing a simple program that moves a vertical line
across the screen.  

glClear(GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT)
draw line
glSwapBuffers

The program uses a XtAppAddTimeOut(50) [20hz] to keep calling itself.
each frame the line moves approximately 10 pixels.

The resulting display shows a double line.  Either the Clear buffer is
not working, or the swapbuffer is not tied to the vertical sweep as
advertised.

Does anyone have any suggestions to make this line motion apear smooth?
