Lock down "Shut down" and "Restart" for users

Post by Kenneth Foss » Sun, 10 Feb 2002 03:19:04

Hi.

One of my accounts are using Terminal Services (Windows 2000 SBS)
for remote users. When picking "Start"-"Shutdown", users get the
opportunity to pick "Shut down" and "Restart", which obviously
will bring down og restart the server.

There must be a way to hide these options for non-adminstrators.
Any tip most appreciated !

Thanks in advance.
Kenneth

When in admin mode as SBS 2k installs that is the idea.  They are admins and
should have sense enough not to reboot the server.

Hi,
Have you tried using POLICY Editor to disable those
features in the shut down menu?? Policy Editor is included
with Microsoft Operating Systems

Lock down "Shut down" and "Restart" for users

Hi - this seems like the way to go. Would be nice with an example,
or a more excact description of where to do what.
"Use the Policy Editor" sounds like a very round description.

Please forgive my laziness, but I prefer to not Read The Fine Manual
if I can avoid it. That's what life is all about, isn't it ?

Thanks!
Kenneth

1. Problems with special characters like ("?","ΓΌ","?","?",aso.)

Hi

I use Samba 2.0.4b.
When I copy a file with a filename including a special
character from a win95 machine to my linux server, I dont find the special
characters any more. They have changed to "_" or something like that.

What can I do?
Do I have to write something special in the smb.conf?
