Can an internet email address point to multiple recipients?

Post by Kremla » Sun, 31 Dec 1899 09:00:00

Hi!

Running SBS 4.5 here using the POP Connector to
route internet mail from a main POP account to
all of the users.

Everything seems to be running fairly well, but
interested in setting up an address, say

multiple people at once, in case a particular
person is out for the day (unless there is a
better solution).  Is there an easy way to do
this with SBS 4.5?

Thanks in advance!

I just created a Recipient in Exchange Admin.  I then added the users
mailbox to the Members category.

The only down side is I have not figured out how to send mail using the
"Sales" address.  I think the only way to do that is actually create a
mailbox and then add the users to the send/receive list.

I stayed away from creating a mailbox for "Sales" so I would not have to
empty an empty box.  If you can figure out how to send mail with the
Recipient Address let me know.

Why not create an email distribution list and use that as the recipient?
It works for me.  Downside is that you can't do the same for the SMTP
send.

Can an internet email address point to multiple recipients?

no, the easiest way to do this is the following,

Using outlook 2000 create a PF, create a message rule within pf to send all
mail to a DL, in the DL add the people within the org that you want to
receive the email, go into Exchange admin, go propertys on the PF and add an

addresses.

When the mail comes in it gets sent to the PF then is forwarded to the
relevent poeple in the DL

Whats an MVP anyway?

Hello,

Just create a Distribution List and make every sales persion member of this DL. From the Outlook
clients, you can of course set up an rule to forward this salesmail to a specified folder.

with "send on behalf" permission, then simply monitor this box.  Then create
a distribution list for Sales that includes all the users in that group.
