"reverse" "Upgrade" - Windows 2000Srv to SBS Server..?

Post by msnews.microsoft.co » Fri, 21 Mar 2003 04:55:33

Question - can I Upgrade and existing W2K DC to SBS..

Take an existing Win2000Server,

Run Setup with Upgrade from within using i386 W2K Server from SBS Purchased
product.

When complete/successful run SBS to complete the SBS installation as
required by licensing.

I haven't had a chance to research but my big question is will SBS DCPromo
(and remove) if already done..,

(existing DC that's had a 2nd W2K installed over..)

Thank you,

John

You can install SBS on an existing win2k server.  See this article:

The only caveat is that if you've played with the Licensing mode (per
server/per seat), you may get funny licensing errors with SBS. I think
there's a KB, and I know Jeff knows more on this...

1. Problems with special characters like ("?","ΓΌ","?","?",aso.)

Hi

I use Samba 2.0.4b.
When I copy a file with a filename including a special
character from a win95 machine to my linux server, I dont find the special
characters any more. They have changed to "_" or something like that.

What can I do?
Do I have to write something special in the smb.conf?
