Changed TCP/IP - Now Can't use telnet, ping, ftp

Post by Dennis Favr » Thu, 19 Mar 1998 04:00:00

I changed some of our server's TCP/IP info (the internal IP, from
10.0.0.2 to 10.1.0.2) and now I can't use telnet, ping and ftp (on the
server).

I can't use Netscape or IE without going entering proxy information, but
that's not a big deal.  I'm guessing the problem is with either Proxy
Server or Proxy client, but I'm not sure which and would like to avoid
blowing something up.  Can I remove Proxy Client from the server?  Would
that help?

Some mspclnt.ini 's have the ip and some have the name in there.  You must
have one with IP's  I would uninstall proxy client, but you are also going
to need to edit the mspclnt.ini file on the server so the clients will work
also

1. TCP/IP - can't ping by name only by IP

I've posted a few messages tonight - I suspect most of them are related :-((

I can ping clients from the server and vice versa by IP.
Only clients can ping each other and the server by name.

Is this right? Or have I got another problem along with RAS and TCP/IP Error
2 to resolve?
