PRESS RELEASE
DATE: January 20, 1998

To coincide with the re-launch of SKY Televisions The Computer Channel in
March, comes a new 17 week television programme which aims to find the UKs
Computer Creative Student of 1998. Each show consists of two contestants
using Macs to perform a task we have set them.
Tasks will include:
Digital Photography Take famous monuments from around the world e.g.
Statue of Liberty, Nelsons column, Eiffel Tower and incorporate them into
one location.
DTP The contestants have to design a poster campaign for a charity of
their choice. Will they opt for a 3 part campaign spread over a period of
time? Or will they go for a single controversial  campaign message? The
choice is theirs.
Package Design The contestants have to design the packaging for the
contents of a shopping basket for a typical 21st century single male. (One
contestant should be female to see the difference in what they perceive the
contents of the basket to be.)
Magazine Design The task is to create a football fanzine.
Web Design An interactive web site is required from this weeks
contestants.
3D Design Create a cut scene for a sci-fi computer game.
Music Creation The contestants are given a short piece of film to score
using a computer and a musical instrument.

style of an old master.
The contestants will be using software such as Adobe PhotoShop, Freehand
Graphics Studio and Director 6 Multimedia Studio from Macromedia, Infini-D 4

During the show two expert judges will throw light on how the contestants
are doing. And at the end of the show they will judge the entries and decide
on a winner. The series will be structured into heats e.g. semi-finals, and
culminating in a final to be broadcast in June.
The overall winner will win a copy of each of the creative packages featured
throughout the series which will be worth several thousand pounds, or
maybe even a computer (TBC).
We will also encourage viewers to send in their creative efforts to be
displayed on the show in the Viewers Gallery.
