I wouldn't mind chipping in for this. I have some fairly good textures.

FANTASTIC idea. That's one of the things I loved about the POVRay bunch,
so many simple resources available on the web for fellow raytracers.
Post when you're ready top set up and I'll send some stuff as well.

Excellent Idea Why Not Set Up Now!!!!

I also have a few Surfaces I Would throw in.

Maybe Someone could Devote a little Web Space to the Idea and then have
an online lightwave surface Bank!!!

Cool Idea Dave

I 4th that suggestion, question is, who will be willing to take charge of
creating the web/ftp site?
I am willing to help out in any way I can though.

Hi all,

It has occured to me that alot of questions asked by various members of
the group relate to achieving specific surfaces and effects. Would it
not be great if everyone got together to create a type of Ultimate
Surfaces Collection(not merely a collection of imagemaps). Then anyone
after a specific result could check the collection before asking on the
list.

I have a ftp site, and WWW and would be prepared to design, maintain,
collate and 'Vet' the surfaces. A simple database driven, seachable
front end, with thumnails would make it easy to find the nearest surface
to your requirements.

If anyone thinks this is a good idea, then please mail me or the group,
and we can start thinking about where to start.

Sincerely

Dave

I could be missing something here, but in the article you quoted David said he'd
be willing to do this.

Well, I am willing to host the site from my account unless it gets to be
too huge. I am working on a new version of my webpage, but I could probably
take out the time to work on the page. But if someone else wants to be
responsible for the Collection, just say so. Hope to hear any suggestions.
