How long does is take for the free content CD and the sample issue of
New Techniques to arrive, after one has registered the software?

Heheh!  I registered several months ago... Nothing *yet* and I don't expect
to see anything in the post for the next millenia either, so I wouldn't hold
onto your breath for too long...

Then again, I'm in NZ, I bought LW from the USA - So there may be an issue
there with this 'free' stuff being posted so far -  Who knows! ;-)

Hm... I don't know about the free copy of New Techniques. I don't know
if that part of the offer applies in the UK.  However, if you have
bought Lightwave 5.6 then you will have a very, very long wait for the
free content CD.  Unless it has been changed since I got my copy with
5.5 you will find it is already on your program CD. Just look for a
folder called MCDONALDS_FARM, this will contain the free CD files.
Someone I know who recently bought 5.6 pointed out this little gem.

About the same amount of time it takes to get the registration key from
Newtek .... NEVER !!!

After 2 phone calls (none successful), 1 fax, 3 Emails and 2 weeks, my copy
of 5.5 finally bombed.
At which point I gave up on Newtek and tried AMGFX (UK), who sorted me out
within the hour, and even sent me a copy of the contents CD.
No luck on the copy of Newtekniques however. Bit of a pity because after
seeing D. Jarrets tutorials on the Web, I wish I had subscribed,
unfortunatly I had nothing to encourage me to subscribe.

Do yourself 2 favors:

1 - Forget the free disk ever existed, because it'll take forever to get,
and once you finally do get it, you'll be completely disappointed at how
totally useless the content really is.

2 - Just bite the bullet and subscribe to NewTekniques - it's a great
magazine with tons of useful information.  You won't be disappointed.

Yupski - fur sure!  - Don't really need it anyways - tons to learn from the
"normal" CD.

Abso-fraggin-lutley! - I've been a subscribere from Iss.1 - (get it sent to
old blighty - takes a while - but well worth it).
Antother is Serious-3D - if it carries on as iss. #1 they have a winner.

Well, thanks for the info. But you know, that's not the point. Why
advertise it if they never deliver? I take pride in giving my clients
top service. Because essentially, my clients are my boss. Without them,
I wouldn't  be working for myself. Before I promise something, I make
sure I can deliver. I'll go that extra mile to make a client happy.

I try to make a customer, not just a sale.

I have heard a few people in this thread who have received their
promised CD & sample magazine. But the majority did not. Since I am a
new Lightwave user, I have also heard how great NewTek's customer
service is. I don't know if it's a communication breakdown, or lack of
following a set policy or procedure, but I sure haven't seen examples of
great customer service. Maybe this is just the Internet side of things,
but it sure reflects badly on NewTek, in my eyes.

And of course there will be people who will say they got excellent
service. But if it's not consistent, it may as well not exist at all.

I'm sure I won't be disappointed. But I looked at that registration card
and said to myself "That's great. NewTek is helping me learn more and
allowing me to make an informed decision by sending me a free CD and a
free issue of a magazine." It saddens me to find that most people were
never given what they were entitled.

And it makes me think twice about buying other products from NewTek.

I'll wait the six weeks and see what happens.
