I am a soon to be student at the Institue Of Technology in Canberra
Australia and I am going to do a course on 3D Studio max..... Can anybody
tell me more about 3d studio max??? Is it hard to learn???

Does any body know where I can buy cheap 3d Studio Max????in Australia......

please help as I am looking forward to this experience and I think I can
contribute to this industry....

well i cant tell you all what i know about max in this letter,
so ask a question

about getting info about max:

buy 3d studio max and play with it.
read the MAX manual
read newsgroups (well u have allredy done that)
buy books (fx. 3d studio Fundamentals)
read tuturails on homepages (fx. www.3dcafe.com, www.maxww.com,
www.max3d.com)
use the 3dsmax channels on irc (fx. EFnet, #3dsmax)

It's easy on a surface level,  below that it can be very difficult until you
understand how Max does things. There are numerous concepts that need to be
understood in Max before you can really get anywhere with it. Once these are
understood, it's then just a case of learning it all, very deep, very steep
and very good.

Foundation training in Max should help a lot.

Don't know where you'd get it cheap though, see if the institute can get you
a student copy.
