Virtual Kaleidascope - reflections of reflections???

I'm trying to create a virtual kaleidascope in 3DS3 but, I cannot get
reflections of reflections. Is there a trick to do this, or maybe
something I'm overlooking.

There is a setting in the 3DS.SET file:

;Controls the number of inter-object reflections in non-flat automatic
;  reflection maps.  It controls the number of times each
auto-reflect-map
;  object is rendered -- watch out because it can GREATLY increase the
;  amount of time it takes to render reflections.
;  Range is 1-10, default is 1.
NONFLAT-AUTOREFLECT-LEVELS = 1

Of course, if you are using FLAT reflections, this will have no
effect.

1. real floor, virtual reflection

hi,
  I'm animating an alien that needs comping into a live video shot.
The real floor is slightly reflective. I know how to make a shadow
object in max (so only the shadow cast onto it renders) but is there
a way of doing the same with reflections?
