THis happens when you create a scene in Viz then with dwg linking then
opened in Max.  What you have to do if you want to use a viz linked file in
max is to unlink the files.

Relations Max/viz???????????

rr,

Sorry, but MAX does not support DWG Linking.  If you know you will be
porting a VIZ scene to MAX, you should not use DWG Linking.  At this
point you could try one of the following:

a)  Open the scene in VIZ and "Bind" the linked DWG file to the scene,
before going to MAX.

b)  You might try copying the DWGLINK.DLU file into the MAX "Stdplugs"
folder before opening MAX.  I haven't tried this but it does work with
some of the other VIZ standard plugins.

c) If all else fails, use import to bring in the DWG geomtry (but you
have a lot of work to do over).

Good  luck!

1. VIZ to MAX to VIZ

OK. I made some contours turn into a meshed surface using the VIZ
Command Panel, Create-AEC Extended-Terrain. It worked GREAT! Then, I
saved the file, and tried to open it up in MAX 2.0. I got a little
dialog box, entitled "Missing DLLs". Listed was a file called
LANDFORM.DLO. It was described as "Class: Terrain". The dialog box gave
me two choices, OK or cancel. If I chose OK, the the former VIZ file
would open in MAX with the contours unmeshed. If I chose cancel, then
the file would not open. I found LANDFORM.DLO in the root directory of
my VIZ program, and I tried to copy it to the root directory of my MAX
program. Didn't do any good. I tried changing the extension of
LANDFORM.DLO to .DLL. That didn't work either.

I would like to be able to move files from VIZ to MAX, because I would
like to be able to create architectural scenes in VIZ, and then complete
the scene in MAX, using "live" moving people via Character Studio. At
this point, I am afraid that this might not be possible. I wonder if MAX
2.5 includes LANDFORM.DLO?
