Having built over 100 computers, I have to say there is some truth to his
statements. The junk the put in over-the-counter computers is pitiful.
HOWEVER, this is no place to hawk cheap computers. In fact, don't ever buy a
computer from anyone you don't know at least a little. They'll*just as
well. Develop a relationship with a local retailer so that you can build an
upgradeable system to change as your abilities/needs change. That way, if you
end up with a bad motherboard or cheap memory, you can hold them accountable.

BTW--I am not a retailer and I do not have a builder service.
So you're the they in "That's what they say"!

I can buy that year old PIII 600 for less than you sell it at most
stores. I can build it myself (with better components) for even less.
