Edge Effects?

Can anyone recommend a good program or action to create Polaroid transfer
style edge effects in PS 5.5?
Thanks,
John

Choose white foreground colour.
Select menu/Select All
Edit menu/Stroke (choose 'inside', whatever line thickness you want)
Click Okay.
That's it. One white border.

I don't think a plain white border is what John refers to as the
Polaroid Transfer effect.

Tim Wright brought this up in a previous thread and sent me the
following link:

http://www.wenet.net/users/dupreh/trans.html

It is a very complex thing to do in Photoshop, and I haven't been able
to nail it.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Kind Regards

Mikkel

It's easy creating borders around pictures. Create a selection around
the picture and a channel from that selection.

Apply a few filters to the channel:

Filters > Pixelate > Color Halftone
+ Filters > Distort > Ripple
-or-
Filters > Pixelate > Color Halftone
+ Filters > Brush Strokes > Spatter
+ Filters > Pixelate > Fragment
-or-
Filters > Distory > Any of them in here

Found these last night...

Hi Mikkel,
I had a look at those pictures that you linked to, I understand better now
what JAH was asking for. (I was thinking Polaroid Print effect)
The idea of the border is correct, It just needs to be suitably 'distressed'
to give that "peeled off" look. . .

It's important to know that the effect of the stamp tool is dependent
on the currently selected "Foreground" and "Background" colors in the
toolbox. You probably had the default colors (Black and White)
selected, since your results came out in black and white. You might
want to add this to your tutorial.
