Urgent: graphics butchered

Urgent: graphics butchered

Post by Jeff Wilso » Tue, 16 Jun 1998 04:00:00

my apologies if this is in the wrong place - first time doing graphics
for an app and could use some advice.  App is made from vc++ and is
seriously posterizing my colors on SOME machines.  I know it sounds
rather obvious as to the # of colors being used but even on pics using
only less than 10 colors (supposidly windows standard colors) are being
switched with other lesser quality colors.  Also the look fine when
viewed straight but on the same machine look terrible when viewed within
the app.  I believe my palette is not right but am not fully certain as
to why it looks worse when viewed thru the app but not staight as a bmp.

-Is there an obvious reason for this color switching that I am missing
not associated with the palette?
-Is there an "OFFICIAL" palette out there that is truely WINDOWS
standard colors (as mine claims to be but alas...)
-Is there some place that has this kind of info that I can go to instead
of asking such an amateurish question as such? (I assure I have been
scouring the newsgroups and web but just do not have the time to do it
right)

whatever the best way is to put a pic in - i am all for it...

thanks

jeff

I have a few programs - one being photoshop - to use so if a ps expert
has the answer to my problems...
