Job Title: Programmer/Software Engineer - C++/Java/IDL- Medical Image
Display

C++/Java and/or RSI IDL programmers and engineers are wanted to
develop and maintain multi-platform medical image display applications
for clinical research use.

Required experience includes 3-4 years of GUI programming and
image display experience using C++ or IDL on Windows, Mac OS
and X Windows. Java experience and familiarity with medical
image formats and protocols including DICOM are desirable.
Formal training in and experience with software engineering
methodology and quality software regulations are preferred.

The Minimally Invasive Brain Surgery (MIBS) Program is seeking qualified
applicants for a medical imaging programmer to support its new Computer
Integration research lab. Research interests of the MIBS CI Lab include
medical image registration/manipulation, geometric distortion
recognition and correction, intra-operative volumetric quantification
and rendering, among other image-guided neurosurgical applications.

TITLE:
Medical Imaging Software Programmer

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Medical imaging and visualization software design and development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Development of software and software systems for such elements as
medical, primarily neurosurgical, image analysis; 3D modeling and
virtual reality; machine vision; image fusion; image segmentation;
target detection and recognition; and image generation/visualization.

DEGREE OF SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
General

TYPE:
Permanent Full Time

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
M.S. in one or more of the following:
Bioengineering; Medical Physics; Electrical Engineering; Computer
Science; or equivalent.

PREREQUISITES:
 - manipulation of General Electric or Siemens medical image formats
 - understanding of minimally invasive techniques
 - C programming language
 - UNIX and Macintosh OS software development
 - eigen systems, signal and image processing techniques
 - strong knowledge of MatLab and one or more of the following
   visualization packages: Visualization Toolkit; 3DVIEWNIX; AVS;
   IBM Data Explorer; IDL; ANALYZE; IRIS Explorer; Voxel View in order
   of preference
 - good oral and written communication skills

PLUSES INCLUDE:
 - C++, Pascal, assembler
 - X Windows/Motif development
 - SGI and Open GL development
