CMYK ps to RGB TIFF?

I am looking for a simple way to take an Illustrator EPS file
which defines all Pantone Colors as CMYK and redefine all Pantone
Colors as RGB values.

Could someone tell me how to manually do this, or better yet,
provide a script or program that does it? I'm willing to pay
for this programming if someone can tackle it.

The workflow goes like this. We need to rasterize PostScript files
into a high-resolution RGB Tiff. Currently we are using Freedom of
Press to do this. Illustrator defines colors as CMYK. Freedom of
Press translates these CMYK values into RGB using its own color
lookup table but it seems much more accurate to translate directly
from Panton to RGB on the front end. How can I do that?

Are there better solutions for RIPping to RGB TIFF? How would
GhostScript do? What about other commercial RIPS?

The final output device is a 8x10 Fire 1000 Transparency.

Thanks for any assistance.

Well, of course you can't define a color as RGB _in_ Illustrator, so
you've got the right idea: Rasterize is first, then save it.

Most RIPs won't give you a useable file after ripping, anyway, so what I'd
recommend is scripting Photoshop. You can tell Photoshop to rasterize an
illustrator EPS file at any res/size you want, in RGB color, and then save
it as a TIFF.

Of course it all depends on the volume of pictures. If it's a few, do them
by hand. I suspect that if it were just a few, you probably wouldn't ask,
though.

What is a Fire1000 Transparency? Are you referring to the Fiery rip to the CLC?

Hope that helps...

1. help rgb->cmyk, ycc->cmyk, TIFF

Hi,

I am interested in information on how to convert from Kodak PhotoCD (YCC)
to CMYK, from RGB to CMYK, and on TIFF (versions 5.0 and 6.0).
Any info on these or pointers to who might know would be much
appreciated.
Many thanks
