Removing Jagged Edges from a PICT

Removing Jagged Edges from a PICT

Post by Emiliano Di » Fri, 29 Apr 1994 13:12:52

I have a black and white PICT that I want to print onto a shirt.

Only problem is that it's rather small and I want to enlarge it.
But enlarging it makes all the edges really jagged.

Does anyone know of a method or program that will allow me to enlarge a
PICT while keeping the edges smooth?

The PICT in question contains some text and some drawn figures.

Please email responses, I'll summarize the responses and post them back
here.

Tony,

Method 1:
Change the PICT to a TIFF, and turn Adobe Streamline loose on it.

Method 2:
Crank that puppy up to the size you want, then use Ray Dream's JAG II.

Method 3:
Mail that bad boy to me.  I'll size it to your specs, and if you want,
put it on a shirt for you.  Unfortunately, I can't do the shirt for
free. ;-)

1. Removing Jagged Edges from a PICT

I know of two products that may work for you:

(1) My company makes Smoothie, which anti-aliases any picture made
up of vector graphics (from a drawing program) and produces a smoothie
looking output picture.  It works with single pictures, groups of
pictures, and slide shows (like from Persuasion or PowerPoint).

(2) JAG II from Dray Dreams.  It works on bitmap pictures to produce
anti-aliased pictures.

If you have vector based art get Smoothie.  It you have bitmap art
get JAG.
