RE vs Indigo vs GTX vs PI graphics

Hello world,

I have a program which produces a nice picture on a Reality engine, a VGX or
an Indigo (entry graphics).  However the same piece of code run on a 240GTX
or a PI I find that my lighting is really wonky, that is no shading on the
"front" of the object is boring while the back is lit correctly, this looks
like the normals are opposite on the object ???  And I get lmbind BADINDEX
errors ???  Wierd huh ?!

Anyway the code runs without errors on the other machines.

Can anyone tell me if there is a diff. between these graphics pipelines and if
so what the h.ll it is !! It is really annoying.

Quoting from the lmbind man page:

    IRIS-4D G, GT, and GTX models, and the Personal Iris, do not support
     two-sided lighting, and therefore do not support light resource BACKMA-
     TERIAL.

I think that's what you're seeing.

Well contrary to the opinion of all on this group I do read man pages and
in fact the program explicitly checks a flag each time it goes to set
BACKMATERIAL.  Currently the program uses getgdesc to find out if two sided
lighting is available and sets things up accordingly.

So now what ?  My program still behaves wierdly, the lighting is still
poked !  The lighting is still completely backwards ?!  I am creating my
own view and model matrices and loading them into the stack ?! Maybe I am
confusing GL by the order I am doing this ?
