Animas / Genius scanner, need new plug-ins

g'morning, world!

I've inherited a 2-year-old (but in perfect order) 600dpi 24-bit Animas
scanner that works perfectly *some* of the time. The software - plug-ins
for PhotoShop - appear to be very buggy, and refuse to alwys work properly
with PhotoShop 2.5.1 (usually, the gamma gets stuck on 0.20) and System
7.1. The only way I can guarantee correct gamma settings is to restart the
Mac, start PhotoShop, accquire a scan with the provided SYNERGIZER (akpth,
what a name) plug-in, save-quit-restart to do another ... long-winded
approach, to be sure.

Anyone else out there have an Animas (now under the Genius name I
believe?) flatbed like mine? If so, is yours working properly with System 7.1?

If anyone has any leads to getting my electronic pinkies on a newer
version of the Synergizer (or whatever they're calling it today) plu-in,
I'd appreciate ay help you could spare. It's annoying having ths lovely
piece of technology on the desktop and not being able to use it! ARGH!!

Geoffrey

1. Is there ANY way to kill non-functioning Sherlock 2.0 built-in plug-ins?

I've been all over trying to figure this out and it's come down to
hacking Sherlock with ResEdit and removing the automatic update line.

Since Apple no longer even has a site page with 2.0 plug-ins, it seems
to me that it's stupid that they maintain a server that has the old,
bad, outdated plugs on it so that they are re-created no matter what you
do to delete them, each time you open Sherlock.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Happy Thanksgiving from the Sherlock
turkey.
