I was thinking about this myself and the next step up would be 1.2 GHz
for an iMac without eating into desktop sales. But if IBM is as
aggressive about this as they have indicated, then desktops might be
introduced at MacWorld SF at 2.4 or 2.6 GHz. At that time I believe
you'll see a G5 iMac but at the 1.2GHz level. It's not just the CPU
runs hot at that speed but the entire architecture because fast memory
is almost as power hungry as CPUs. And those special chips that Apple
uses to shunt the data around at the speed required by the G5 also
contributes to heat build-up. HTH
