pcmcia memory /storage: how much ?

Post by Leigh J C Kenne » Fri, 01 Jul 1994 11:16:15

I have a 286 laptop which I am planning to replace with a palmtop.
The computer cost is not a problem, but I will need at least 10mb
of storage so I will need 1 or two pcmcia cards.

How much will I have to pay for them ?  say 2 5mb cards or 1 10mb card
?

Is their much of a second hand market ?

I think you'd be much better off with a single 10Mb card than 2 5Mb
cards unless you don't intend to keep the cards both with the machine at
the same time (backups maybe).  Avoiding having to swap cards or
partition data between the two cards is a major feature in my mind.
Also, the cost per Mb is generally lower on the larger cards, so you
should come out ahead financially that way too.  I believe I've seen
some 10Mb flash with stacker compression (often advertised as up to 20Mb)
as low as $500-$550 range new (I don't remember the exact price,
though).

1. Storage/Program memory allocation for E-105

I have a problem with my E-105. I wonder if it is a software bug...

The problem is that I can slide the slider in the System Info dialog box to
more memory for Storage, but after pressing OK and going back to the dialog
box, the slider goes back to it's default position. I've almost used up my
Storage memory and only used 3M of my Program memory.

Anybody out there shares the same problem as I do??

I've emailed the customer support, and still waiting for a reply from them.

Any clues??
