Hi Guys,

Anybody know what key(s) I need to press on the RiscPC
during boot-up if I want to configure the monitor sync ?
Friend seemed to think it was somehting on the numeric
keypad, but wasn't too sure.

Cheers,

Paul.

To configure the monitor type press following key(s) on the numeric
keyblock while booting:
0 = Standard monochrome or colour monitor
1 = Multi frequency monitor
2 = 64Hz high resolution monochrome monitor
3 = 64Hz VGA monitor
4 = Super VGA monitor
5 = Liquid christal monitor
. = automatic monitor type detection

Pressing T while booting switches from composite-synch to vertial-synch
(I am not sure if this will change other CMOS settings as the manual
describes "pressing T" is similar to "pressing DEL". And this resets the
CMOS to the factory defaults.

Hope this helps.

You've covered all but the sync!

Numeric Keypad + = positive sync
Numeric Keypad - = negative sync

Ofcourse all these are temporary, so you need ensure that you have either
issued *Configure MinitorType <0-5> and *Configure Sync <0|1> or preferably
used the minitor configuration tool (double click !Boot) to select an
appropriate MDF file.

I'm sure that keypad +, and keypad -, at powerup, select the sync value.

I'll have to give + and - a go as the Packard Bell (A720) was having none
of the numeric values.

Paul.

1. RiscPC won't sync to monitor

I have a 21" Hitachi monitor connected to an RPC, but every time
I start up the computer I get an error message on the screen
saying it doesn't recognise the scan frequency. If I then connect a
standard monitor, I do indeed find that the video is skew-wiff.
If I *start* the RPC with the standard monitor plugged in, all is OK.
I can then swap over the monitor leads and the Hitachi is happy.

Does anyone have any idea how to get the Hitachi and the RC to cooperate
when starting up?
