Psion link to Arc

Psion link to Arc

Post by woodf.. » Sun, 31 Dec 1899 09:00:00

Have had no trouble linking a Psion 3a to an A5000 using PocketFS.
But now cannot connect a 3c using the cable supplied with Psiwin.
Are the software needs different?
I've seen postings of trouble with 3c and Psiwin on Windows Machines -
anyone have suggestions for getting a connection?
(So far no luck in Windows 3.1 or 95 either, Psion have checked the
cable OK.  Next step to return the 3c to Psion.  I'm reluctant, so
hoping for bright ideas

Yes and it doesn't look as though Acorn are going to produce a
pocket book based on the 3c until at least the end of the year.

I've had no problem using my 3c and Acorn via the PC card and Psiwin
1.1. I presume you have checked that the baud rates between computer
and Psion are the same? I use 57600bd. Presumably the 3c serial port
is enabled and not on IR as well? I find backups are quite quick on my
system. The 3c is a great machine and to be honest I've had little
problem getting used to getting to grips with Acorn > PC > Psion
data transfers. Incidentally you can get hold of 3c serial cables
without having to fork out for PsiWin now.

Incidentally a few folk on the Psion newsgroups who have bought
backlit versions of the 3c have reported poor displays. At least one
UK dealer is selling US (ie backlit) version of the 3c.

1. Linking Arc to Psion Series 3

I'm considering getting a Psion Series 3, but want to know if it can be
connected to the Arc for file transfer. As far as I know the Psion is the
same as the Acorn PocketBook, so if there's a link for the Arc to PocketBook
in theory that would work..... Does anyone know??

Cheers.

Graham.
