Don't know if this is your problem, and maybe you've solved it already,
but I had a lot of trouble with the USB cradle in my office. I
installed one at home with no trouble, but I think I may have plugged
the one at the office into the USB port before getting to that point in
the software installation instructions, and that (or something else)
corrupted the USB hub driver (and maybe other things). It made it
impossible to use the USB ports at all. I did every troubleshooting
fix that I could think of, as did our IT person, and nothing that
Handspring suggested worked. Finally wiped and reinstalled the entire
system, and then did the Visor installation properly. Works fine now.
(I've suggested to someone at Handspring that there ought to be a very
visible warning on the software envelope against plugging the cradle in
