NIFFUM: DOS 3.3 to DOS 3.2

Is there a way to convert a 16 sector disk to 13 sectors? I read there
was a programm called NIFFUM published in Nibble, that could do it.
Does anybody have an idea.

What exactly are you trying to do?  MUFFIN transferred files from
DOS 3.2 disks to DOS 3.3 disks.  NIFFUM reversed the process, letting
you move files from DOS 3.3 disks to DOS 3.2 disks.

A smart-alec answer would be: INIT the 16-sector disk to 13-sectors.

I have two programs to use with my clock card that come on a 16 sector
disc (that is not copy protected) and I want to have them on a 13
sector disc so I can use them with my old Apple II that has a 13
sector controller.

There was one utility in Nibble back in 1983 called DOS 3+2 which lets you
toggle between 16-sector and 13-sector modes without rebooting. I remember
entering it manually back then and it worked great. You boot into DOS 3.3,
run the utility, then initialize a diskette and it'll embed the modification
into DOS so when you re-boot, it'll already be installed.

I posted DEMUFFIN to comp.binaries.apple2.

Having the 13-sector controller is kind of neat; but, really,
trying to run an Apple II with a 13-sector Disk Controller is asking
for unending frustration.

     Check http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/A2FAQs3VENDORS.html .
You are sure to find someone who will sell you a 16-sector Disk
Controller at a reasonable price. (Alltech lists the 20-pin
controller for $19.)

Another place to ask is comp.sys.apple2.marketplace.

A rather easy way would be to get a OLD copy of Copy II Plus.
It worked with both DOS 3.2 and DOS 3.3.

1) Boot OLD copy of Copy II Plus.
2) Format a disk with DOS 3.2
3) Copy files from DOS 3.3 disk to  DOS 3.2 disk.

I have the program buried in storage (somewhere).
As usual if interested send me e-mail but be very patient.
I am NOT going to look for it until someone indicates they want it and
looking could take a very long time.

Thanks for the idea. I have a programm called "the filer" that seems
to be a pre "Copy II Plus" program from Central Point Software that
can do the same, so you don't have to look.

Hi! Would any of you mind uploading DEMUFFIN to ftp.apple.asimov.net ??

The reason I ask is that our news server doesn't to a great job as
concerns binary groups.

By the way... I found out I can make a DOS 3.2 disk just fine with
Copy2+ 5.5, and I can copy stuff to it... but how do I make it bootable
if I don't already have a bootable 3.2 disk??? It's a classic catch-22.

Thanks,
