jdk14/Makefile to include src.zip

Post by Alexey Zelk » Fri, 11 Jul 2003 19:31:15

hi,

It will not do a trick.  src.zip removal was intentional because it's not
generated correctly in -p3.  I'd suggest to take a src.zip from linux
distribution (1.4.1) and use instead (at least until -p4).

Unfortunatelly I did not hit my plan for release -p4 at begining of
July because of some reasons (awt testing and bughunting is much more
complicated problem than I expected).  But in -p4 src.zip issue will be
corrected believe me :)

Cool! I'll wait for P4 then.

1. cvs commit: src/include pthread_np.h src/lib/libc_r/uthread Makefile.inc uthread_main_np.c

hi, there!

after this commit it is possible to build JDK 1.3.1 HotSpot on RELENG_4
system with single change to what is distributed with current jdk13 port:
you need to change -lc_r -> -pthread in makefiles/vm.make.

I even can run JBuilder 7 with this hotspot compiler (compiler1) on my -STABLE
system, however it runs rather flaky.
Seems that reworked thread suspension from -CURRENT need to be merged
to achieve better performance.

I know that work on porting HotSpot to RELENG_4 is under way
and want to hear your suggestions on improving libc_r in RELENG_4.
