Very Computer

I have a box that has on it both windows and freebsd.
In windows I can get on my linksys router and get on the net.
In freebsd I can't get even on the net.
In the install of freebsd it recognized the router.
In pinging the Linksys it sends out a packet of 56bits
but I get no response back it doesn't even time out (or I haven't even
waited for it to time out if it will).
I'm a newbe to freebsd and I know there is a file I must change the
options in to get it to work.  Could that be it?  Or is there
something else that needs working with?
What files do I need to change?
and what options should be included and excluded?

I went through the same problems -- here is what you need to do:

The linksys router will ONLY see a 10baseT/UTP setup. So do that
with your NIC.
add
ifconfig_XXX="inet xxx.xxx.x.xxx media 10baseT/UTP netmask xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
in /etc/rc.conf

man ifconfig to determine how to set the 10baseT/UTP setting to your NIC.
Most (if not all) PCI nics support this, ALL isa nics default to this setting.

Thats how I got my linksys to work!!!
