'Show Desktop' icon - how can I install

Post by Daniel Smal » Sun, 25 Mar 2001 03:52:45

On one of my machines Win2K displays a 'show desktop' icon in the tray. On
my new notebook w/Win2K installed, this icon isnt displayed. How can I add
'show desktop' to the Win2K sytem tray?

Daniel,

Seeing that it's just a shortcut key (Windows Button + m) you may be able to
just copy the attached file; which is a copy of my own shortcut; and place
it in this Folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\"Username"\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Quick Launch\

This should then appear on your QuickLaunch taskbar.

I've never tried this but I can't see why it won't work.

Daniel,

Sorry, If you worried about excepting a file from me you can always create
the file yourself.

- Using notepad type this:

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

- And then save the file as "Show Desktop.scf" and in the folder I
mentioned.

1. missing 'show desktop' icon

The 'show desktop' icon is missing from my taskbar. I
tried searching for it in Windows Explorer & dragging &
dropping, but that didn't work. Does anyone know how I can
get it back? I've tried customizing the taskbar, but there
seems to be nothing about showing the desktop.
Thanks!
