Terminal Service Licensing reissued more than one license per client

Post by Wagner Tokunag » Thu, 04 Jul 2002 20:02:24

Hi Everyone,

I had installed 79 licenses for Terminal Services. The clients have been
connecting to the server, but the Terminal Services Licensing
have been reissuing 2,3,4 licenses for the same client. I had installed SRP1
and SP2. How Can I resolve this problem??

Thanks

What kind of client is it?
When you say it has been issued multiple licenses, how are you checking
that?

The clients are instances of  Terminal Services ( Thin Clients).
When I said that terminal services has been issuing multiple licenses,
is that you open the Terminal Services Licenses and
you see on Terminal Services Client Access License, the licenses issued
to same client name. For example, I have
    3 licenses issued to CITRU2.

The history may well show multiple listings.  What does your available count
tell you?

When the available account had logon to Terminal Server, the message is
the following " Your terminal services temporay license will expire
in 2 days. Contact your administrator..."

Are there any event logs on the TS?
Sounds like your TS is not able to get a license for that client

No. There is no any Id Registered on  Event Viewer. I had found 2
articles (Q294729 and Q253292) and ask for
Microsoft Support and they told to apply the Service RollUp Package 1. I had
applied this HotFix, and now I will go to reinstall again to check the
problem,

Thanks,

1. Terminal Services Licensing and Activation, Terminal Services Licensing and Ac

Hi,

I have a client that has already purchased 10 Windows 2000
Terminal Services CALS through Open License Program (OLP
NL).

He installed and activated the 10 licenses in its
corporate lan.

Now he wants to built 10 more small networks with:
1x Windows 2000 Server
3x Windows 2000 CALS
3x Windows 2000 Terminal Services CALS
3x Thin Clients as Terminals

Every network will be autonomous with no connection to
the corporate lan, its own Terminal Services License
Server and own small Active Directory.

My question: Which is the right way for purchasing the
additional Terminal Services Licenses?

1. A single order for 30 additional TS CALS (OLP NL)
2. Multiple orders for 10x3 additional TS CALS (OLP NL)

Thanks in advance,

Christos

----------------

When using Thin Clients you have to buy TS CALS.

The setup for every-one of the small networks
will be the following:

3x Windows 2000 CALS OLP NL
3x Windows 2000 Terminal Services CALS OLP NL
3x Windows Based Terminals (Thin Clients) as Desktop
Devices

Servers will have installed their own Active Directory,
TS License Server.

Every TS License server must have activated 3 tokens,
each for every seat. A total of 3 License Tokens for
every of the 10 networks = 30 TS Licences/TS License
tokens.

My question: Which is the right way for purchasing the
30 additional Terminal Services Licenses and Activate
the tokens?

1. With a single order for 30 additional TS CALS (OLP NL)?
2. With multiple orders for 10x3 additional TS CALS (OLP
NL)?

2. Is it a race condition?

3. Terminal Services Licensing and Activation:::::Terminal Services Licensing and A

4. DICOM question re. notifications

9. License Mangager give one Client two Licenses
