roaming profile and folder redirection

Post by Matthew K. Emsle » Sun, 17 Jun 2001 00:55:15

Hi All,
Sorry if this was asked before.

I am trying to set up user accounts to have roaming profiles with My
Documents, Application Data, etc. redirected to a network location so as to
reduce the logon times.

I have the roaming profile part working fine, but the folder redirection is
not working.  I set up the group policy to redirect the folders but they are
not being redirected.  The folders are also not being created at first logon
for new users, as is the case when a new user logs on and the folder is
created for the roaming profile in the network share.  I have seen that
other people have had this problem, but I haven't seen how it is fixed.

Also right now when I create a new user to the group I have to manually
change them to a roaming profile and specify the UNC path.  Is there a way
to make this a group policy so that all new user accounts are automatically
roaming users with their profiles in a predefined location.

Thanks in advance for the help,
Matt

roaming profile and folder redirection

I set up a new employee template in User Mgr. for Domains for both the folder set
up and roaming profiles and used %username% as a variable for the name.  When the
person first logs on, NT 4.0 creates folders in each place for the person. Works
fine under nt 4.0.

1. Outlook Express with AD, Roaming Profiles, and Folder Redirection

Hi All,

I'd like to use Outlook Express with Roming User Profiles and Folder
Redirection, our enviroment is
Win2000 pro. I've successfuly installed Roaming Profiles and Folder
Redirections, the problem is that
Outlook Express will only save the emails on the local systems, unless I
specifically configure the message
folder settings in OE to point to a folder inside the redirected Application
Data folder.

I'd like to know if theres a way to configure user profiles to store OE's
default message folder to be
stored on a network server, without having to go to each workstation and
configure their OE to
point to a redirected folder.
