Mapping network drive problem

After I set up win2000 with AD, I tried to share some folders to user. (e.g.
\\servername\test). However, I found that the "access deny" always occurs if
I map the path with the server name. Then I tried to map with IP and the
shared folder name. (e.g. \\192.168.0.1\test) It is Ok. No access deny.
What's the problem is?
P.S. Client's OS : Windows98 SE

since it works with the IP address and not the name it might be a name
resolution problem.  Check your DNS settings on your win 98 client machine.
