users cannot access/setup LAN settings

users cannot access/setup LAN settings

Hi all,

We recently had a cable connection installed on one of our Win2000Pro home
pc's.  This was done by the technician of the cable company.  Afterwards we
discovered that only one user (the one active at the time of installation)
could reach the internet.  Another user checked its LAN settings, but this
was refused.  He logged on as (local) administrator, added him self to the
(local) administrators group, after which he was able to look at the
settings, and to get online.

Is there another simplier and savier way to enable LAN access, without
adding your self to the administrators group?

Thx for any help,
Mark.

Mark,

DOn't tell me you let just someone work as admin on that machine ???? Be
happy it still works, experiences vary here from: he knew what he did to
complete jerks.
Anyway, the problem you are facing is probably just that the connection he
made is not shared. As admin you can adapt the security properties: share it
to other users to.

Good luck, WIlly.
