deleted Schema Owner, Domain Owner, and Rid Owner entries

Post by Joe Albert J » Mon, 28 Jan 2002 07:02:46

I've been trying to install Exchange Server 2000 on my
Windows 2000 domain controller, but was given repeated
messages saying I didn't have the necessary permissions.
After double and triple checking that I was part of the
Enterprise, Domain, and Schema Admin groups, I ran the
dcdiag.exe utility.

Does anyone have any advise on how to add my deleted
Schema Owner, Domain Owner, and Rid Owner entries back in
Active Directory?

Thanks!
Joe

You need to seize the roles to another DC.  It appears that the DC that held
those roles was removed from the domain.  You can seize a role by using
NTDSUTIL.

Have you ran domainprep on all your domains first to setup
exchange 2000? Are you sure to wanna install it on a
domain controller?
If I  remember right first exchange 2000 of a forest has
to be installed in root forest domain. Be careful at old
schema master role. It can't be any more in the forest
after you seized itself in another box.

Hi.
