Hi,
My harddisk is on IDE 0, and has 3 partitions:
Windows XP installed on C:\
Windows 2000 Advance Server is on D:\
E:\ is for data files
I installed Windows XP Pro on C: 1st, and Windows 2000 Advanced Server on
D:, on the same harddisk. This messed up my Windows XP after I restarted my
PC. I couldn't boot up from my XP, so I ran XP from the CD and selected the
Repair option. I managed to bring it up with with all my other applications
intact. Problem though, I couldn't install my nVidia display device driver
( & yes my anti-virus was disabled). I could not locate the display adapter
in the Device Manager, and under Display Properties (from the Control Panel)
the adapter was using "VGAsave" and there was no way I could update the
driver from there coz' it was greyed out. After surfing the net, I came
across an article that said that you should install Windows 2000 before
installing Windows XP on the same harddisk.
So I formatted C:\ again and reinstalled XP. Now when I look under Disk
Management:
C:\ is an Extended Partiton with (Boot)
D:\ is a Primary Partition with (System)
E:\ is a Primary Partition
Now when my PC boots, but I don't get the option of dual boot. There is no
boot.ini or NTdetect.com in the C:\ drive; but both files are on my D:\
drive.
The boot.ini read:
[boot loader]
timeout=1
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect
So how do I make it dual boot again?
Please advise. Thank you in advance.
