Ok... I did not set this hardware up, but we had a tech come in a he said it
was wired all wrong or something to that nature. I was not here. Here's what
we have:
4 x 3Com SuperStack II Desktop Switches
1 x 3Com SuperStack II Switch 3000
1 x Leviton 99 Port Hub
I don't know if it is currently wired correctly or not. All of the Desktop
Switches have 24 10Mbps Ports and 1 100Mbps Port. The four Desktop Switches
are connected by their 100Mbps ports to the Switch 3000, which has 12
100Mbps ports. The 24 ports in each Desktop Switch are taken by cross over
cables from the hub (which is wired directly to the ethernet ports in
classrooms).
Computers and devices that are on 100Mbps connection are connected directly
from the hub to the Switch 3000.
Is this setup correct???
Also, we have our primary server connected to the DMZ of our SonicWALL
XPRS2. The SonicWALL is connected to our T1 Router AND the Switch 3000. When
the LAN Activity LED on the SonicWALL flashes (for no apparent reason, no
one is online or even on the network), all active ports on all of the
Switches get the packets. Is this normal?
