Roaming Profile and Folder Redirection

Post by thomas colso » Thu, 29 Jun 2000 04:00:00

I have folder redirection enabled in the default domain security policy.
Using the %username% /sharename method, and each users home directory and
profile path in user manager is set to the unc path of their home dir on the
server. In theory, according to M$, is that the registry entries for the
location of the my documents folder and application data will contain the
UNC names for the location of the profile and will load the unc path of the
profile on whatever workstation the user logs on to. Now, some users have
application data/ my docs folders that approach 1 GB in size. Here's the
problem. The entire contents of their home dir is copied from the server to
their workstation on log on, then copied back on log off. with a 10 mb lan,
this is seriously throtteling my lan! not to mention irate users, 20 minutes
to log on for some of them. How do I fix?

1. Outlook Express with AD, Roaming Profiles, and Folder Redirection

Hi All,

I'd like to use Outlook Express with Roming User Profiles and Folder
Redirection, our enviroment is
Win2000 pro. I've successfuly installed Roaming Profiles and Folder
Redirections, the problem is that
Outlook Express will only save the emails on the local systems, unless I
specifically configure the message
folder settings in OE to point to a folder inside the redirected Application
Data folder.

I'd like to know if theres a way to configure user profiles to store OE's
default message folder to be
stored on a network server, without having to go to each workstation and
configure their OE to
point to a redirected folder.
